Linocut printmaking,
a traditional relief printing technique
Linocut is a traditional relief printing technique that I love for its tactile, hands-on nature. I work with genuine linoleum made from natural materials such as linseed oil and wood flour. The image is carved into the surface, inked, and pressed onto paper — each print revealing a reversed impression of the block.
I use finely sharpened gouges and brayers to bring the design to life. My inks are Caligo Safe Wash oil-based, allowing rich colour without the use of solvents. I mix my own tones to achieve the exact hues I have in mind.
Many of my works are created using multiple blocks to build layers of colour and subtle gradients. Careful registration ensures that each layer aligns perfectly.
Every print is hand-pulled, signed, and numbered as part of a limited edition — no two are ever quite the same.
